The Panjab University is a state university in Chandigarh, the capital of the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana.
History
The origins of the Panjab University goes back to the Founded in 1882, University of the Punjab in Lahore in present-day Pakistan. The college was the fourth university founded in British India to the University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta and University of Madras. It falls in the tenure of the Governor Charles Aitchison After the establishment of Pakistan Lahore and hence the university came under Pakistani rule. Therefore, the Panjab University was founded in 1956 as the Indian Succession high school in Chandigarh new.
