Pankratius von Dinkel

Pankratius of spelled ( born February 9, 1811 in Season Stein, † October 8, 1894 in Augsburg) was from 1858 until his death, Bishop of Augsburg.

Life

From Dinkel was born the son of an innkeeper and mayor. After leaving school in 1828 he studied at the Lyceum Bamberger philosophy and Catholic theology. He was ordained a priest by Archbishop Joseph Maria Bamberger of Mrs. Berg on August 31, 1834. Dinkel worked as a chaplain at the parish church of St. Martin in Forchheim. In 1843 he became pastor in Erlangen, where he worked until 1858. At his departure from Erlangen, he was awarded the honorary citizenship of the city.

Pankratius of spelled was the successor to Michael of Deinlein as Bishop of Augsburg. On November 21, 1858 found his enthronement in Augsburg Cathedral by the Archbishop of Munich, Gregor von Scherr instead. Soon led Bishop Pankrazberg a new catechism, and in 1860 a new song and prayer book (" Laudate "). He led the restoration of the Augsburg Cathedral and the Church of St. Ulrich and Afra.
