Pantelis Voulgaris

Pantelis Voulgaris (Greek Παντελής Βούλγαρης ); Born October 2, 1940 in Athens, is a Greek film director.

Theo Angelopoulos In addition, he is the most famous representative of the new Greek cinema. At the Athens Film School, he studied directing. After that, he directed plays and television dramas. During the military dictatorship, he was in 1973 for 6 months in exile. His films have been shown at many film festivals including Berlin, Venice and Moscow, and received numerous awards. At the 43rd International Film Festival Thessalonoki 2002 a comprehensive retrospective with the full cinematic works, including documentaries and TV series was shown. With the cinematographer Giorgos Arvanitis, known for his collaboration with Theo Angelopoulos, he has collaborated on several occasions; last for the film Nyfes ( Νύφες ).

Pantelis Voulgaris is married to the writer Ioanna Karystiani. They have two children.
