Papa Owusu-Ankomah

Papa Owusu Ankomah - (* April 27, 1957, Sekondi, Ghana ) is a politician, professor and lawyer in Ghana. He is a member of parliament and was under President John Agyekum Kufuor Minister of Education, Science and Sport to July 2007. Successor was Dominic Fobih. Ankomah resigned from office in order to present themselves as candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) in the primaries for the presidential nominations can.

Training

Owusu- Ankomah comes from Dixicove, the district Ahanta West. Between 1969 and 1976 he attended the Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast, in which he his GCE A- Level completed. Immediately after his graduation in 1976 he enrolled at the University of Ghana in Legon, a suburb of Accra. As early as 1979 he completed his studies here with the LL.B. ( Hons. ) from. He attended in Accra the courses the Faculty of Law and was admitted by the Bar Association as a barrister in 1981.

Career

Between 1981 and 2000 he worked in Ghana for various law firms. He worked for the law firm Secondi / Takoradi City Solicitor, also as a partner in the law firm Owusu- Ankomah. He also worked for Amanquah Co. Consulting Associate as well as for Ghartey Ghartey Law Firm in Takoradi.

At the University of Applied Sciences in Takoradi, Takoradi Polytechnic of, he taught in law.

In 2001, he was in the Parliament of Ghana as Deputy Chief Whip of the majority party and Deputy Minister of Government Affairs ( Government Business ) during the first term of President Kufuor. Between August 2001 and September 2001, he was Minister of Youth and Sports. In October 2001, he was group leader of the majority party and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in Parliament. He gave up this position in March 2003 to 2003 Minister of Justice and Attorney General and thus to be in April for the top adviser to the president on legal matters. With the change of government in the second term of office in 2005 by President Kufuor Owusu Ankomah changed as a minister in the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. This office he laid in July 2007, down voluntarily in order to be elected as a candidate as a candidate for the presidential election in 2008 when his party internally.
