Paphos District

The Paphos District is a district of the Republic of Cyprus to the west of the island. The district is divided into four districts: Paphos ( main town ), Yeroskipou, Peyia and Polis Chrysochous. Other villages are, for example, Pano Akourdaleia and Tera.

The district has an area of 1,393 km ², which is 15.1 % of the territory of Cyprus. The population is 66,364 inhabitants ( 2001).

The coasts are characterized by bays, capes and smaller peninsulas. The district is divided into three geographical regions: the coastal region, the hilly region and the mountain region.

The Paphos district is the only district to which the Republic of Cyprus exercises full control.
