Papyrus 59

(Referred to Gregory- Aland Sigel 59) Papyrus 59 is an early copy of the Greek New Testament. It is a papyrus manuscript contains some verses of John's Gospel. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the 7th century.

The fragments contain the text of John 1,26.28.48.51; 2:15-16; 11.40 to 52; 12,25.29.31.35; 17.24 to 26; 18,1-2.16-17.22; 21,7.12-13.15.17-20.23.

The Greek text of this codex is mixed. Aland placed it in Category III.

The manuscript formerly belonged to Colt Archaeological Institute and is currently being kept in the The Morgan Library & Museum, under the signature P. Colt 3 ​​in New York City.
