Paraskevi Tsiamita

Tsiamita Paraskevi (Greek Παρασκευή Τσιαμίτα, born March 10, 1972 in Volos ) is a former Greek athlete.

After Paraskevi Tsiamita had already surpassed 1987 as a 15 -year-old in the long jump for the first time the six- meter mark, she took part in the 1987 European Junior Championships, but failed to qualify for the finals themselves. After several injury breaks, she won the 1994 U23 European Championships bronze in the triple jump. In 1995, she increased her best performance to 13.27 meters, before she interrupted their sports career to complete her studies as a PE teacher at the University of Athens.

1998 in her first competition after two and a half years, she jumped 13.07 meters in the hall. At the European Championships in 1998 she jumped 14.23 meters in the qualifying, then missed but in ninth with 13.90 meters just the finals. European champion was her compatriot Olga Vasdeki.

In the indoor season in 1999 Paraskevi Tsiamita continued to improve and was at the World Indoor Championships fifth with 14.63 meters.

Height of her career was the 1999 World Championships in Seville. Already in the qualification she jumped 15.07 meters with Greek national record. In the first round of the finals Tsiamita then jumped 14.88 meters. This length has been reached by any jumper. Second was with 14.61 meters, the Cuban Yamilé Aldama and Olga Vasdeki won bronze.

Paraskevi Tsiamita is 1,71 m tall and weighed about 60 kg competition times. 2000 Paraskevi Tsiamita suffered a stress fracture in his foot and could not get back to the world class.
