History
The decision to build a new parish church at the end of the 18th century on the Bugon Hill in St. Ulrich unleashed a fierce long dispute among the villagers in the then about 1,000 -member congregation. Especially the upper angle residents wanted to retain the old location next to the Anna Church in the Graveyard.
The Tyrolean architect Joseph Abenthung from Götzens led the construction of the years 1792 to 1796. In 1797 it was consecrated by the Bishop of Brixen Karl Franz von Lodron. The dome in the porch and the three domes of the nave were painted by the academic painter Franz Xaver Kirchebner and his brother Joseph. 1870 more ceiling paintings were made to the elders in the Presbytery of brixner painter Josef Barth. The side altars in the nave are right the Lady altar by the Munich architect J. Schneider and Josef left the altar after drawings by the architect J. Bolzano Überbacher. The Stations of the Cross made of cast stone are the work of Ferdinand Demetz and Franz Tavella. The 16 stained glass windows represent the 12 apostles, and at the Sacred Heart Chapel of St. John the Baptist, St. Anne and the Rosarien Chapel Jesus and Mary dar. 1905/ 07, the church was two aisles, to the right, the Sacred Heart Chapel extended to the left, the Rosa Rika Pelle, according to the plans of Josef Rifesser - Stufan. In 1983, the church with a new 1600 m2 large shingle roof made of larch wood was, in the context of very extensive restoration work, stocked up.
Only 1985-1986 were the side chapels by Sebastian pepper are plentiful painted with frescoes.
The organ
1798, the first organ of Benedict Griesser and Michael Schultes from Ottobeuren with 23 stops for the price of 1300 guilders was built. 1910 a new organ of the company Behmann from the Vorarlberg with 25 stops for the price of 22,000 crowns was built. 2010 a new organ with 2,000 pipes was completed by the organ builders Pirchner from Steinach am Brenner and consecrated by Bishop Charles Gols on April 17. The new organ has a fully mechanical action, 31 speaking stops, 7 of reeds. The length of the pipes varies between 2 cm and 5 m. It cost, with the necessary reconstruction of the church, 682 175 €, of which one-third was covered by private donations. Was held on January 14, 2011 in the Church a concert with Olivier Latry, organist of Notre- Dame de Paris Cathedral, instead of compositions by Boëly, Dupré Jean Langlais, Gaston Litaize, Alain, Duruflé, and improvisations by Latry itself.
