Parkes is located in the Central West region of the country about 350 km west of the city of Sydney and 310 km north- west of the Australian capital Canberra. The area includes 61 districts and towns, including Alagala, Alectown, Blowclear, Bogan Gate, Bruie Plains, Gobondery, Goonumbla, Gunningbland, Kadungle, Middlefield, Mungerie, Nanardine, Parkes, Peak Hill, Terowie, Tichborne, Trewilga, The Troffs, Trundle, Yethera and parts of Cookamidgera, Tullamore and Yarrabandai. The seat of the Shire Council is located in the town of Parkes in the southeast of the LGA, where about 9,800 inhabitants.

Management

The Parkes Shire Council has ten members who are elected by the residents of the LGA. Parkes is not divided into districts. From the circle of Councillor also the Mayor ( Mayor ) of the Council recruited.
