Parrot Records (blues label)

Parrot Records was an American record label of the 1950s in the music styles of jazz, rhythm and blues, doo-wop, gospel, and blues.

The label Parrot Records was founded in 1952 in Chicago by the disc jockey Al Benson ( 1908-1978 ) and continued until mid- 1956 First record of the label was the Worry Blues by Willie Mabon. ; it was followed by recordings of Herbie Fields, Mabel Scott, Leo Parker, Coleman Hawkins (What a Difference a Day Made ), Ahmad Jamal, of the native and the first and only LP of labels from 1955, Ahmad Jamal Listens and Paul Bascomb, Albert King, Jimmy Rushing, Lowell Fulson, Bobby Lewis, John Brim, Frank " Floor Show " Culley, Snooky Pryor, JB Lenoir and various vocal groups of the era, such as The Orchids, The Flamingos, Marvin & Johnny and The Rockettes. A sublabel of Parrot was Blue Lake Records. In 1956, the company ran into financial difficulties. Many substances resulting from Parrot recordings were later distributed by Chess Records.
