Parthenopeus

Parthenopaios (Greek Παρθενοπαῖоς, Latinized Parthenopaeus, Parthenopeus ) was an Argive or Arcadian hero of Greek mythology. He was either the son of Talaus and Lysimache or derived from the compound of Atalante with Meleager, son of Ares, or Ares himself, Melanion or Hippomenes and Talaus. As the son of the Atalante he was the brother of Adrastus of Argos. His life, his adventures and his fate will be delivered partly based on the kyklische Thebaid, in Aeschylus, Euripides and Statius. His mother put him on Mount Parthenius to maintain a semblance of virginity. A shepherd rescued him and pulled him along with Telephus, son of Heracles and the eye on. The Telephus, he helped repel the invasion of Idas in his kingdom. The winner in archery he emerged from the first Nemean games. He had with the nymph Clymene a son named Promachos or Tlesimenes. Parthenopaios was one of the " Seven against Thebes " and died, according to Euripides in the secret tour of the city walls of Thebes by the hand of Periclymenus who had torn a huge chunk of the Theban military parapet of the wall and threw his opponent.
