Paso de los Toros (literally Pass of the bulls ) is a city in Uruguay.
Location
It is located in the center of Uruguay on the Rio Negro in the department Tacuarembó. West is the Baygorria Reservoir, east is the hydroelectric plant Rincón del Bonete to find the same reservoir. Your distance south to the state capital of Montevideo, with which it is connected via the Ruta 5, is approximately 250 km.
History
On July 1, 1953 Paso de los Toros received by Law No. 11,952 (Ley 11,952 ) the status of a Ciudad (city).

Mayor ( alcalde ) of Paso de los Toros is Juan José López Sanchez.
Population
It is equipped with 12,985 inhabitants (as of 2011; 13,315 ), of which 6,211 male and 6,774 female, the second largest after the capital city of the department of Tacuarembó.
