Pastovce

Pastovce ( until 1927 slovak " Pastuchov "; Hungarian Ipolypásztó ) is a municipality in the Levice Okres within the Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia, with about 500 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Ipeľská pahorkatina ( " Eipel Hill Country "), which is part of the Slovak Danube lowland. It lies on the right bank of the river Ipeľ border, right across from the Hungarian community Vámosmikola; However, there is no connection. Pastovce is located on the national road 564 and 21 kilometers north of Štúrovo, 30 kilometers southwest of Šahy and 40 kilometers south of Levice away.

History

In today's municipality finds the Lengyel culture from the Hallstatt and La Tène - are demonstrated, as well as a Slavic burial. The present town is first mentioned in 1135 as Paztuh writing and had the fishing rights. In the 14th century it was ruled by the family Pásztó 1554 the castle Levice. After the devastating wars against the Turks the town acquired the Esterházy family, the owners were to the 19th century. A day after the Easter 1774 burned down the whole place.

Until 1919 the town was in the county of Hont in the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-45 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award once again a part of Hungary.
