Patrick Doyle

Patrick ( Pat) Doyle ( born April 6, 1953 in Uddingston, Scotland ) is a Scottish actor and composer of film music. He is married and has four children with his wife Lesley.

Life

After studying piano and singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, in which he is an honorary member since 2004, Doyle wrote for smaller radio and television music and played inter alia, in the Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire ( original title: Chariots of Fire) with. From 1989 he concentrated on writing film music. His breakthrough was achieved by Patrick Doyle with his music for the film Henry V.. This film is also the beginning of a long collaboration and friendship between Doyle and the director and actor Kenneth Branagh.

1997 was diagnosed with Patrick Doyle leukemia. A year later, he took up his work again, however, and has since composed music for over ten films, including the score for the fourth installment of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He thus replaced the famous film music composer John Williams, who wrote the music of the first three parts. Doyle interpreted the famous Hedwig 's Theme by Williams in a 3 /4 time differently to a 4 /4 time, played exclusively with strings.

Among other things, Doyle was nominated for two Academy Awards, and two Golden Globes. He also was nominated for two César awards and a British Academy Film Award, went every times but left empty-handed. But in many other prizes Doyle held up as the winner.
