Paul-Eerik Rummo

Paul- Eerik Rummo ( born January 19, 1942 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian writer, poet and politician.

Life and work

Paul- Eerik Rummo is the son of writer Paul Rummo. After graduation he studied in Tallinn 1959-1965 literature at the University of Tartu. His first releases were made in 1957. Afterwards he was at the theater Vanemuine in Tartu and in Tallinn on Draamateater busy. He is also a freelance writer (mainly poetry), translator from English and Russian as well as working as a politician. He is one of the Reform Party on ( Reformierakond ).

Paul- Eerik Rummo is a longstanding member of the Estonian Parliament and was Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Estonia. Between April 2003 and April 2007 he was Minister population in the Estonian government.

In 1966, Paul- Eerik Rummo named after Juhan Liiv Poetry Prize and the 2005 Literature Prize of the State Foundation Kultuurkapital.

He is with the actress and writer Viiu Härm (1944 ) married and father of four children.
