The pearl eyes ( Scopelarchidae ) are a family of deep-sea fish from the order of lizard fish relatives ( Aulopiformes ). The fish live with the exception of the Mediterranean, the Arktischern Ocean and the Southern Ocean in all oceans. Full-grown pearl eyes keep to mainly at depths of 500 to 1000 meters, the larvae between 100 and 200 meters. They feed on prey on other meso- and bathypelagischen fish, for example, of bristle mouths or lantern fish.

Features
