Pedro Marcos Ribeiro da Costa

Pedro Marcos Ribeiro da Costa ( born October 21, 1921 in Cajikole, Malanje Province; † 3 September 2010) was an Angolan minister and bishop of Saurimo. Dom Pedro Marcos was one of the landmarks for the Church in Angola.

Life

Pedro Marcos Ribeiro da Costa received after completing his studies at the Seminary of the Diocese of Malanje on 23 January 1949, the ordination. After working in various parishes, he became in 1975 vicar general in Malanje.

Paul VI. appointed him on February 3, 1977 Bishop Henrique de Carvalho. The Apostolic Delegate in Angola Giovanni De Andrea gave him on 20 March of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Alexandre do Nascimento, Archbishop of Lubango and Oscar Lino Lopes Fernandes Braga, Bishop of Benguela.

On January 15, 1997 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. He died of a cardiac and circulatory failure.
