Peetu Piiroinen

Peetu Piiroinen (born 15 February 1988 Hyvinkää ) is a Finnish freestyle snowboarders.

Since 1997, Piiroinen snowboarding. In February 2003 he started at the FIS Junior World Championships for the first time internationally. In that season he was also nominated for the first time for the World Cup, but did not at the start. While he could 2003/2004 achieve more success in the winter, the following season 2004/ 05 was successful for Piiroinen. He managed to finish a World Cup Big Air in second place on the podium and also to win the European Youth Olympic Festival in its second halfpipe.

2005/ 06 he became Finnish champion, but could not win a victory at the FIS World Cup competitions of 2005/ 06. This season for the first time participated in a TTR contest, the Burton European Open, and won a competition in slopestyle. The World Cup 2006/ 07 earned him his first victory. This he could repeat it twice so it has two World Cup victories in the Big Air and had a stand in the halfpipe to book at the end of the season. This season, he was also winner in the Big Air World Cup and third in the overall World Cup. However, his Finnish Champion title he could neither defend as his triumph at the Burton European Open. Also in the Snowboard World Cup 2007, he was not on the podium.

Although Piiroinen launched in the next season only four World Cup races, he reached a World Cup success in the Big Air and another podium in the halfpipe. He focused more on the TTR Tour, where he won a victory, and after a further podiums total third. In the World Cup 2008/ 09 he started with a victory in the first Big Air competition. The TTR 2008/09 season he finished with 940.57 points for the first time as a TTR World Champion .. In the following season, 2009/10 Piiroinen won on the TTR Tour title since he achieved consistently good results and some great six star Events - could decide how the Europen Burton Open in Laax and The Arctic Challenge for itself. In addition, he completed a series of major competitions at the podium, including the Billabong Air & Style and O'Neill Evolution. On February 17, 2010 Piiroinen won the silver medal in the halfpipe at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

In the season 2010/11 Piiroinen won the Burton European Open Halfpipe, Slopestyle, he was second. He also won the Air & Style in Munich in the Big Air discipline and finished second at the Air & Style in Innsbruck, all TTR 6 Star competitions. The TTR tour overall victory was the consequence, his third in a row.

Peetus brother Petya Piiroinen is also in the World Cup at the start.
