Pekka Koskela

Pekka Koskela ( born November 29, 1982 in Mänttä ) is a Finnish speed skater. He specializes in the sprint distances.

Pekka Koskela started seven years ago with the speed skating. In 2000 he won at the age of 15 years at the Junior World Championships bronze medal in the following year, he ran for 500 yards a junior world record. His first big success at senior level was the third place over 1000 meters at the 2005 World Championships in Inzell. About the 100 meters he holds the outdoor world record. At the beginning of the season 2007/ 08 he set in Salt Lake City also set a world record over 1000 meters. In the Sprint World Championships in Hamar in 2007, he won the silver medal.

Koskela is a student at the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK ) and starts for the club Seinäjoen Urheilija.
