Pekka Tuomisto

Pekka Juhani Tuomisto ( born December 29, 1960 in Oulu ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Pekka Tuomisto began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Kärpät Oulu, for the first team he made his debut, was in the 1980/81 season in the SM- liiga, the top Finnish league. With Kärpät he was in his rookie year at first Finnish Champion. In Kärpät the winger spent another six years before he moved to the 1987/88 season in the SM- liiga for HIFK Helsinki. In HIFK he ended following the 1995/96 season his career at the age of 35 years.

In 2000, Tuomisto was honored with induction into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Internationally

For Finland Tuomisto participated exclusively at the U20 Junior World Championship 1980 at junior level. In the senior level, he stood in the squad senes country at the World Championships in 1991 and 1992, and at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 and 1992 in Albertville. At the 1988 Winter Games and the World Championships 1992 he won the silver medal with Finland respectively.
