The Pentagon Force Protection Agency ( PFPA ) is a federal agency within the portfolio of Ministry of Defense of the United States. The executive body of the PFPA is the Pentagon Police Directorate ( PPD). The motto is "Protecting Those Who Protect the Nation".

History, organization and functions

The task, which was founded on 3 May 2002 PFPA is primarily the protection of the Pentagon in Washington, DC It was removed after the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, of which the Pentagon was hit, from the Defense Protective Service ( DPS ). In addition, the Authority has been the protection of the National Capitol Region (NCR ). Prior to 1971, the General Services Administration was responsible for the protection of the Pentagon ..

The legal basis is Title 10 Section 2674 of the United States Code. Employees who belong organizationally the armed forces are trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia.

The Pentagon Access Control Division ( PACD ) is responsible for access control.

  • Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives ( CBRNE ) - NBC protection,
  • Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Directorate ( ATFP ),
  • Criminal Investigative & Protective Directorate ( CIPD )
  • Force Protection Technology Directorate ( FPTD ), PFPA Command Center ( PCC) - control center,
  • Program Integration Directorate ( PI),
  • Pentagon Police Directorate ( PPD),
  • Security Services Directorate ( SSD),
  • Training Directorate ( TD ) and the
  • Threat Management Directorate ( TMD) ..

The Pentagon Police Directorate has with the Emergency Response Team on a SWAT Team ( SWAT).
