People Express Airlines

Newark International Airport

People Xpress was an American low-cost airline with headquarters in Newark and based at the city's Newark Liberty International Airport.

History

People Xpress was founded on 30 April 1981 as one of the first low cost airlines in the U.S. and in the same year took the flight operations. After a phenomenal growth People Xpress eventually failed due to the acquisition of the former Frontier Airlines ( not to be confused with the still active today, "new" Frontier ). Although the merged company the fifth largest airline in the United States was revealed that the business models of the two airlines were just too different in order to exploit synergies and to compete successfully in the market. In addition to that now urged other airlines in the market segment of low cost airlines. People Xpress was finally adopted on February 1, 1987 by Continental Airlines and fully integrated into it.

Objectives

People Xpress served numerous national goals, but flew to intercontinental destinations such as Gatwick.
