José Manuel " Pepe" Reina Páez ( born August 31, 1982 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football goalkeeper, who is active in Napoli in the Spanish national football team since 2013. He is the son of the former Spanish international goalkeeper Miguel Reina.

Career

Club career

FC Barcelona

Although he was born in Madrid, Reina began his professional career with FC Barcelona. Here he was at the age of 18 years, made ​​his debut as a professional and came in two years at Barcelona on a total of 30 missions.

Villareal

In order to gain match practice he joined in 2002 initially on loan, and since 2004 permanently to Spanish side Villarreal. In the season 2004/2005 he reached with Villarreal a Champions League place. This season, he held seven of nine scoring penalties, which he earned a reputation as a " Penalty Killer".

Liverpool FC

Napoli

For the 2013/14 season Reina moved on loan to the Italian Serie A for Napoli. After the signing of Simon Mignolet Reina would have threatened the bank one year before the World Cup 2014.

National

Pepe Reina was on 17 August 2005 his debut for the Spanish national football team during a friendly match against Uruguay, which Spain won 2-0. He was also in Spain's squad for the 2006 World Cup, but came as third goalkeeper behind Iker Casillas and Santiago Cañizares not used.

In 2008, Reina took part in the European Championship with Spain in Austria and Switzerland, where it was after a 1-0 victory in the final against Germany European champions. It came in this tournament to an insert in the 2-1 win against Greece.
