Per Collinder

Per Arne Collinder ( May 22nd, 1890 in Sundsvall, † December 6, 1974 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish astronomer.

Collinder worked at the Observatory of Lund. With his dissertation of 1931 he published a fundamental work on the structure of open star clusters and their spatial distribution in the Galaxy ( On the Structural Properties of Galactic Open Clusters and Their Spatial Distribution). The work contains a list of 471 open clusters, which is known as Collinder catalog today. In addition, he published a volume on the history of nautical and work on the history of astronomy in Sweden.

Collinder was married twice. With his first wife he had four children.
