Per Zanussi

Per Zanussi ( born January 31, 1977 in Oslo) is a Norwegian jazz bassist, bandleader and composer.

Life and work

Zanussi grew up in Stavanger, the son of an Italian father and a Norwegian mother. At age 13, he was bass guitarist in rock bands, before moving to bass. He studied chamber music and improvisation at the Conservatory of Music Trondheim and the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he earned the Master. He works since 1990 in the Norwegian jazz scene, first as a member of the experimental electronic trio Wibutee with Håkon Kornstad and Wetle Holte. He then worked with the formation MZN3, the Trespass Trio ( with Martin kitchens and Raymond Strid ), the Crime Time Orchestra and Frode Gjerstads Circulasione Totale Orchestra.

With his own quintet Zanussi 5, which he founded in 2001, he put the 2010 album Ghost Dance ( Moserobie ) ago. He also worked with his Big Band Zanussi 13 He also belongs to the Zanussi / Markhus Project, the Eberson / Zanussi / Lofthus Trio, the Crime Time Orchestra and Sternklang to.

As a composer, he composed music for theater productions by Det Norske Teatret and Haugesund Teater; He also wrote music for dance performances and short films. Throughout his career, he worked with Bugge Wesseltoft, inter alia, Hamid Drake, Louis Moholo, Sten Sandell, Kjell Nordeson, Paal Nilssen -Love, Håvard Wiik, Thomas and Nils Olav Johansen Strønen.
