Percy Montgomery

Percival Colin " Percy " Montgomery ( born March 15, 1974 in Walvis Bay, Namibia ) is a retired South African rugby union player. In the position as a goalkeeper, he played for the South African rugby union team with which he was 2007 World champion and the most successful players on points. With the end of the Tri Nations 2008, he announced his international career end. However, he was still one more season for the Stormers active. It works according to end of his career as an assistant coach at the South African national team.

Percy Montgomery started in 1996 his athletic career at the Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Stormers in the Super 12, the end of 2002 he moved to Wales to play for the Newport Gwent Dragons at the Newport RFC and from 2003. In 2006 he returned to South Africa. Here he played as goalkeeper for the Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup and the Sharks in the Super 14 After the World Cup 2007 he moved to French club USA Perpignan.

Percy Montgomery was from 1997 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2008 a member of the South African national team. Making his first appearance for the " Springboks ", the South African national team, he had 1997 in the match against the English rugby union team. 2002 and 2003 it was not included because of his stay outside South Africa for the national team. Percy Montgomery at the same time holds the South African all-time record for countries game participation and thereby achieved points.
