Perian

Perian is a free component for Apple's QuickTime framework for the representation of popular video formats, which enables QuickTime -based programs to reproduce many other codecs such as DivX, Xvid or AC3 audio, and can therefore be regarded as analogous to ffdshow. For decoding the libavcodec library of the popular FFmpeg project will be used.

The development of the software was set in May 2012. On OS X 10.9 it works only when using the " QuickTime Player 7 " Apple once for OS X 10.6 ready made ​​for free download and also runs under the current system at the time.
