Peter August, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck

Peter August of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck ( born December 7, 1697 in Königsberg, † March 22, 1775 in Tallinn ) was Duke of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck and Field Marshal. From 1743 to 1753 he was Governor General of Reval and governor of Estonia. 1758 he was appointed to the Russian Field Marshal.

He was the youngest son of Friedrich Ludwig ( Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck) and Louise Charlotte of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Augustenburg.

Title

Peter August was only titular Duke. The Well House Beck ( wages - Ulenburg ) on which the name is based had been sold already 1744.

Family

Peter August married on September 5, 1723 Sophie of Hesse- Philippsthal (* April 6, 1695, † May 9, 1728 ), daughter of Philip. The couple had the following children:

  • Karl ( October 1724 - March 1726 )
  • Karl Anton August (* August 10, 1727, † September 12, 1759 )
  • Ulrike Amelie Wilhelmine (* May 20, 1726, died a short time later )

On March 15, 1742, he married Countess Natália Nikolaievna Golovin (* September 4, 1724; † January 8, 1767 ) daughter of Count Nicholas Fedorovich Golovin. The couple had the following children:

  • Peter (* February 1, 1743; † January 3, 1751 )
  • Alexander (* / † 1744)
  • Catherine ( * February 23, 1750, † December 10, 1811 ), married to Ivan Sergeevich Bariatinsky and grandmother of Field Marshal Alexander Ivanovich Baryatinsky
