Peter Carstens

Peter Carstens (* September 13 1903 in Brunsbuttel; † January 1945 in Poznań ) was a German animal breeding geneticist and SS chief officer (since 1944).

Carstens was in 1930 a member of the Nazi Party and joined the SA. In 1931 he received his doctorate in Hohenheim in 1934 and his habilitation. He became a professor at the College of Agriculture at Hohenheim and rector there from 1935 to 1938 in 1935., He became the leader of the Race and Settlement Main Office. In 1940 he was part of the settlement bar poses and in 1941 he was appointed rector of the State University of Poznan, appointed parallel to SS- Standartenführer on April 20, 1941 1945 promoted to SS - Oberführer (effective since 1944). In 1942 he was called up and handed over the official duties for Rector at Walter Geisler. In 1944 he was part of the leadership circle of the Nazi German lecturers. He died in January 1945 during a battle in the Battle of Poznań.
