Peter Joseph Mallon

Peter Joseph Mallon ( born July 3, 1929 in Prince Rupert, BC, Canada, † February 3, 2007 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) was the sixth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Regina in Canada.

Life

Mallon attended schools in Terrace, British Columbia, and after moving his family in Vancouver. He entered the seminary run by Benedictine monks " Christ the King Seminary " and studied philosophy and theology at Benedictine College in Mission, British Columbia. Peter Joseph Mallon received on 27 May 1956, ordained priest at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Vancouver. He served as a priest, 1956-1982 canon of the Holy Rosary Cathedral.

He was appointed as the successor of Wilfrid Emmett Doyle of Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Nelson, British Columbia in 1989. 1995 he was appointed as the successor of Charles Aimé Halpin Archbishop of Regina in Saskatchewan.

In 2005, his resignation of Benedict XVI. upheld; his successor, Daniel Joseph Bohan.

He died of a cancer in the Pasqua Hospital in Regina and was buried in Holy Rosary Cathedral in Vancouver.
