Peter Lehel

Peter Lehel (* September 13, 1965 in Karlsruhe ) is a German jazz saxophonist and composer.

Life and work

Lehel studied at the conservatories in Stuttgart and Budapest. He runs his own formations such as the Peter Lehel Quartet and is a member of the groups Pipes & Phones with the Stuttgart organist and composer Peter Schindler and popular especially in South Korea band SaltaCello. Hoppel Hoppel Rhythm Club With the he is committed to the educational placement of jazz to children. As a composer, he is dedicated to, among others, the integration of jazz soloists in the classical chamber orchestra or string orchestra. As a composer and arranger he has worked among others for the clarinetist Sabine Meyer, the clarinetist Paquito D' Rivera and Wolfgang Meyer and Hammondorgelvirtuosin Barbara Dennerlein. He is the founder of the jazz ensembles Baden- Württemberg, whose first CD recording was released in November 2013 in JAZZBNARTS Records.

Lehel is co-owner of the independent record label finetone music. Since 2004 he is a lecturer in jazz / harmony / improvisation and big band at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe.

In advance music appeared in 2011, the teaching and playalong book " Crossover Pieces for Saxophone ".

Prizes and awards

Lehel won awards including 1997 with the Jazz Award Baden -Württemberg and the Prize of the German Record Critics' Award (2000 and 2006).
