Petre P. Carp

Petru P. Carp ( born June 29, 1837 in Jassy, † June 19, 1919 at Ţibăneşti ) was a Romanian boyar and statesman.

Life

In Berlin, educated, Carp studied political science in Bonn. There he became in 1859 a member of the Corps Borussia.

In 1862 he returned to Romania and operating the overthrow of Cuza. After the arrival of Prince Charles as he was First Secretary of the diplomatic Agentie to Paris. As a parliamentarian, he was among the opponents of the Ministry Brătianu, in the short-lived cabinet Epureanu was Minister of Foreign Affairs and later some years of diplomatic agent in Vienna.

On his return home, he again participated in the lively parliamentary life and supported especially the teaching reform Majorescus, whose successor he became. As the fight for education reform juvenile and Altkonservative separated and consequently the Ministry Catargiu fell, Carp aspired to a reorganization of the Conservative Party. So the party of the June crap that led Carp originated.

Under the following Ministry Bratiano Carp defended the rights of Romania in Vienna in the Danube question and was opposed to the liberal government in all matters.

In the Ministry Catargiu he took over in December 1891, the management of the agricultural - industrial, - and Handelsministeriums.Im October 1895 he took with the other two members of the Ministry junimistischen his dismissal, which the overthrow of the whole Cabinet Catargiu meant.

In July 1900 he resigned as Prime Minister and Finance Minister at the head of the government, but had to leave to resign on February 26, 1901, because his tax plans were not approved by the Chamber.
