Petrovice, Bytča District

Petro Vice ( Hungarian Trencsénpéteri - to 1902 Petrovic ) is a municipality near the city Bytča in northern Slovakia.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the valley of the river Petrovická in Javorník Mountains and divided near the main town in the three other parts of municipalities Magale, Pláne and Setechov (1964 amalgamated ).

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1312 as Petré, then he belonged to the reign of Bytča. In 1598 there were 13 houses in the village and the inhabitants were engaged in agriculture as well as forestry work. The church in the place, consecrated to the Virgin Birth, built in the 18th century. During the Second World War the church part Magale was burned down, because today is a memorial plaque in place.
