Peugeot 908 HDi FAP

The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP is a sports car prototype for long-distance race, which was used from 2007 to 2010 in the Le Mans Series (LMS) and the 24- hour race at Le Mans.

History

Developed by Peugeot Sport, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was first presented at the Paris Motor Show in September 2006 as a model, and completed on 31 December its roll-out.

The first time in 24-hour race at Le Mans in 2007 reached one of the two used Peugeot 908 second place, the other vehicle failed. In order for the Peugeot team was beaten also the diesel-powered Audi R10 TDI. The first major success with the Peugeot 908 HDi succeeded in the 1000-kilometer race in the Le Mans Series at Barcelona, ​​as the drivers Marc Gené and Nicolas Minassian gained prominence in front of the Audi R10 with a round.

At the 24 - hour race at Le Mans 2008, driven by Jacques Villeneuve, Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian car reached the second place. Technology

The Peugeot 908 is powered by a V12 diesel engine with a displacement of 5.5 liters and an opening angle of 100 °. He makes about 515 kW ( 700 hp) and develops a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm. The FAP diesel particulate filter system is taken from the series production.

Results and chassis numbers

A total of ten vehicles of the 908 HDi FAP were manufactured. The first vehicle with chassis number 01, however, never came to a race. After various tests, it was last used at the 2007 Le Mans Series pretests on the Circuit Paul Ricard. Two of the seven Peugeot 908 HDi FAP were badly damaged during a deployment. Marc Gené had an accident with the vehicle 02 in the pre-test of the 24- hour race in 2008, Benoît Treluyer in his first race in the Peugeot 2009. Both vehicles have not been used in a race after their accidents again.
