Philip Orbanes

Philip " Phil" E. Orbanes (* in Somers Point, New Jersey) is an American game designer, game publisher and Monopoly expert.

Life

Orbanes graduated from the Case Institute of Technology. In 1965 Orbanes the game publisher GameScience to publish its conflict simulation Viet Nam. After three years he sold the publishing of the toy manufacturer Renwal. Then Orbanes developed conflict simulations for SPI. He then worked for the publisher Gamut of Games, where he among other things, along with Sid Sackson some games brought out. From 1976 Orbanes was at the Ideal Toy Company, the then second largest U.S. toy producer, responsible for the games division.

Three years later he came to Parker Brothers, where he was eleven years as head of game development. During this time he spent as a game designer largely back. He has several published versions of Monopoly and is considered one of the greatest experts in the world of Monopoly; he was from 1979 to 1992 in the U.S., and the World Cup top referee. He has published several books on Monopoly and Parker Brothers.

In 1990 he published the game Trumpet, which was the Game of the Year Games Magazine in 1991.

In 1995, Orbanes together with Tom Kremer, Alex Randolph and Mike Meyers the Publishing Winning Moves Games.

Orbanes and his wife Anna have two sons; the eldest son of Philip C. Orbanes is Vice - President at Winning Moves.
