Philippa Gregory

Philippa Gregory ( born January 9, 1954 in Nairobi ) is an English writer.

Life

Philippa Gregory was born in Kenya, but moved to England with her parents. After her journalistic training, she worked as a reporter for " Portsmouth News", as well as a journalist and producer for BBC radio. At the University of Sussex, she studied history and received his doctorate at the University of Edinburgh in the subject " literature of the 18th century". Shortly thereafter, she wrote, as the beginning of a trilogy, her first novel "Embers ", which was published in 1987. In addition to other historical novels Philippa Gregory writes short stories and children's books.

" The Other Boleyn Girl ", the first novel of the Tudor series, was implemented in 2003 as a TV movie for the BBC. The main roles Natascha McElhone, Jodhi May and Jared Harris were seen. The same novel was filmed in 2006 as a movie starring Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana in the lead roles.

In addition to her work as a writer Philippa Gregory writes short stories and book reviews for newspapers and magazines. She also works as a historical consultant in the field of " House of Tudor " for the British commercial station Channel 4
