Phillips Petroleum Company

The Phillips 66 includes the cleaved and placed as a separate company on the stock market downstream business of ConocoPhillips. Before that it was a US-based oil and gas company, which merged with Conoco on 30 August 2002 to ConocoPhillips. Best-known brand in the retail sale is Phillips 66, named after the Route 66. Phillips 66 has around 20,000 service stations worldwide, of which 540 JET petrol stations in Germany and 140 in Austria.

In 1917, L. E. Phillips and his brother Frank Phillips, the company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. 1954 decided the United States Supreme Court in Phillips Petroleum vs.. State of Wisconsin, that the federal government should regulate the prices of natural gas under the Natural Gas Act.

Later in 1954, Mesa Petroleum, Phillips tried in a hostile takeover to acquire, Phillips was able to maintain its independence, but had to take it further debt. Phillips was discovered in 1969 when drilling the first North Sea oil in the Ekofisk field in the Norwegian sector.

Phillips 66 today operates 15 refineries worldwide.

On 1 May 2012, the Company was reincorporated Phillips66 by a splitting.
