Pierre Chatenet

Pierre Chatenet ( born March 6, 1917 in Paris; † 4 September 1997 Tavers ) was a French politician.

Chatenet was Interior Minister of France from 1962-1967 and President of the EURATOM. Pierre Chatenet was a member of the Gaullist party.

After his academic career at the Lycée Buffon and the University of Paris and at the Ecole libre des sciences politiques, he became maître Legal Adviser in the State Council. Soon after, he became a member of the bar of Labour Minister Alexandre Parodi, and acquired as a French delegate at the conference of the United Nations in 1945 in San Francisco.

Chatenet served briefly as Secretary of Prime Minister Michel Debré of 8 January to 28 May 1959. Thereafter, he was for two years Secretary of the Interior in May 1959 to May 1961. Since his health was attacked, he was in that office by Roger Frey replaced.
