Pierre Cogen

Pierre Cogen (born 2 October 1931 in Paris ) is a French organist, composer and music teacher.

Biography

He received his first musical training as a member of the " Schola " of the " Petit Seminaire de Paris ", who led the Abbé Jehan Revert. In addition to studying philosophy, which he began after school education, he studied with Jean Langlais (Organ ) and Jean Lemaire (harmony ) and partly at the Ecole César Franck ( organ with Edouard Souberbielle ) and also at the Schola Cantorum (organ and improvisation with Jean Langlais, counterpoint and fugue with Yvonne Desportes. further complementary studies followed with André Fleury and Pierre Cochereau ). He taught many students in the areas of choral conducting, music education, organ, improvisation, harmony and counterpoint, including also in the context of summer schools, master classes and private lessons. In 1976 he was appointed " Organiste Co - Titulaire " by Jean Langlais at the Basilica of Sainte- Clotilde in Paris. From 1987 to 1994 he was " Organiste titulaire à plein titre " of this church.
