Pietro Abbà Cornaglia

Pietro Abbà Cornaglia ( born March 20, 1851 in Alessandria, Piedmont, † May 2, 1894 in Alessandria) was Italian composer and organist.

Life

The Milan Conservatory he attended from 1868 to 1871 and studied piano with Antonio Angeleri, and composition with Lauro Rossi and Alberto Mazzucato. After graduation, he was a concert pianist, and from 1880 until his death organist at the cathedral in Alessandria. There he founded a school of composition, singing and piano.

Abba Cornaglia composed sacred music, chamber music, organ pieces, songs and stage works Isabella Spinola (1877 ), Maria di Warden ( 1884) and Una partita a scacchi (1892 ).
