Pilchowice, Silesian Voivodeship
Pilchowice ( German Pilchowitz, 1936-1945 Bilchengrund ) is a village and seat of the rural community in Silesia, Gliwice powiat in Poland.
History
The first written mention of the village was 1305. 1867 a teacher training college in the former Dominialschloss was established.
Attractions
The late Baroque building of the Catholic Parish Church of St. John beheading is aligned with its front tower on the leading westward road to Stanitz and was donated by Count Emanuel of Wengersky, built from 1779 to 1780 and renewed in 1912. From the time of construction of the main altar are with an altar Journal of the Beheading of John the Baptist and the pulpit. East of the church extends the former monastery of the Brothers of Charity, a neo-Gothic building complex dating from the 19th century, in which a clinic is set up today.
