Piloni

Piloni is a hamlet of Rocca Strada in the province of Grosseto, Tuscany region of Italy.

Geography

The village is located 6 km north of the main town Rocca Strada and 34 km north of the provincial capital Grosseto in the Metalliferous Hills of the Maremma. The village lies at 474 meters above sea level and has about 152 inhabitants. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the district Torniella, which is located on the opposite hill.

History

In the land of King Leopold II from 1765 the place is mentioned as a collection of smaller houses. Only at the beginning of the 19th century the town developed in a slightly greater community. 1819 was the local Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie a Piloni.
