Plášťovce

Plášťovce (Hungarian Palást ) is a predominantly Hungarian-speaking community in the south of Slovakia, with 1631 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Levice, a circle of the parent district Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

Plášťovce is located on the southwestern slope of the highlands Krupinská Planina at the confluence of Litava with the Krupinica and is situated in the traditional landscape Hont. The center is located at the altitude of 155 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Šahy and 42 km from Levice.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1156 as a plastic writing and originally belonged to the castle Hont, then to Graner chapter. Since the late 13th century the place was owned by the local landowners and in the 16th century the castle Čabraď. On August 10, 1552 a battle between the Ottoman and the imperial troops took place at the place, emerged victorious from which the Ottomans; a chapel commemorates this event.

Until 1918/1919 the place in the county of Hont the Kingdom of Hungary belonged to Czechoslovakia and came afterwards. On the basis of the First Vienna Award 1938-45 he was lying again in Hungary.
