Plopeni
Plopeni is a town in Prahova County in the Great Wallachia in Romania.
Location
Plopeni is located in the foothills of the southern part of the Eastern Carpathians, in the floodplain of the river Teleajen. The county seat Ploieşti is situated about 15 km south.
History
Plopeni developed in the environment of the big city to an industrial center Ploieşti. 1938 was a large ammunition factory. 1968 Plopeni received the status of a city.
The main industries of the town are the wooden and metal processing, textile, glass and defense industry and mechanical engineering.
Population
In 1930 there were about 1,000 people in the town. As of the 2002 census, 9,612 inhabitants were registered, including 9,493 Romanians and 112 Roma.
Traffic
Plopeni has a station on the branch line from Ploieşti after Slănic; currently operate in both directions (2009) five commuter trains daily, the train service between Poiana Slănic Slănic and rests. There are regular bus services to Slănic and Ploieşti.
