Plumelin

Plumelin ( Breton: Pluverin ) is a commune with 2577 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pays de Locminé.

Location

Plumelin located in the center of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Remungol in the north, Moréac in the northeast, Locminé in the east, Moustoir -Ac in the Southeast and South, La Chapelle- Neuve in the southwest and west and Guénin in the northwest.

Through the town Plumelin the D117 runs as a link from Locminé by Baud and D179 of Grand-Champ after Pontivy.

The river Tarun forms the southern boundary of the municipality. More water on municipality are the Bach Le Fou and some ponds. Parts of the municipality area is covered by forest. The biggest of these is the Bois de Guénanec.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro - Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Baod (French Pays de Baud) and shares his story. In 1867, a part of its territory split off and formed the town of La Chapelle- Neuve.
