Podhorie, Banská Štiavnica District

Podhorie is a town in central Slovakia with 365 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011).

It is surrounded by the mountains Selmec ( Štiavnica Hills ) and was created in 1964 by the merger of the towns Teplá (Hungarian Teplafő ) and Žakýl ( Seken German, Hungarian Saskőszékely ).

Until 1918, the districts were part of the Kingdom of Hungary and were in the county of Hont.

The inhabitants were and are mainly engaged in agriculture.
