Podolí (Uherské Hradiště District)

Podolí ( German Podoly, 1939-45: Podol ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-east of Uherské Hradiště and belongs to Okres Uherské Hradiště.

Geography

Podolí extends below the confluence of the creek Podolský creek on the left bank of the Olšava. The village is situated in the hill country between the hills of the Highlands Vizovická Hlucka pahorkatina and Prakšická pahorkatina. In the north, the Milonín raises the Rovnina (336 m), northeast (323 m), in the southeastern Myšince (352 m ) and in the south of Kamenný (348 m) and Hluboček (351 m). North of the village runs along the opposite bank the European route 50/Staatsstraße I/50 Brno to Trencin and behind the railway line Brno- Vlárský průsmyk. The nearest train station is Popovice u Uherského Hradiště. To the north there is the natural park Prakšická pahorkatina.

Neighboring towns are Popovice in the north, and Hradčovice Veletiny in the east, in the southeast Vlčnov, Hluk in the south, Míkovice the southeast, Vésky in the west and Sady and Mařatice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of belonging to the possessions of the monastery Velehrad village took place in 1228 as Dolni Popovice. Together with Horni Popovice it had been given in 1220 by Otakar I Přemysl the Cistercians. In 1401 the village was first called Podolí. At that time, here to 1416 per capita income of Podolí his seat after the destruction of the monastery by the Hussites Burian took possession of Vlčnov the goods, so that the Velehrad Abbot Stephen the Provincial Court sued for return. It also has a mill and a courtyard with vineyard was mentioned in 1428. 1467 pledged the monastery villages Podolí Popovice against 200 pounds of silver to the city Hradiště. After the monastery had never raised the deposit, Podolí was peculiar about 1528 to the city. The vineyard became extinct in the 17th century. 1663 the entire village was burned down by the invasion of Hungary. For further incursions troops Podolí was again partially plugged into the 1683 and 1709 fire. The oldest town seal is from 1698; it shows an eight-spoked wheel, as it led the Lords of Veletiny coat of arms. Vicarage was originally Derfle, in the 18th century Podolí was umgepfarrt after Kunovice 1784 and came back to the parish Derfle. In the second half of the 18th century the village had almost 370 inhabitants. 1843 lived 410 people in 73 houses of Podolí. Until the mid-19th century Podolí was always to large and part Uherské Hradiště submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Podolí / Podoly formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Hungarian Hradisch. In 1869 lived in Podolí 472 people. 1888 Wlarabahn was built. Since 1913 Podolí is gepfarrt after Popovice. 1930, the village had 704 inhabitants and in 1964 reached the place with 918 people its highest population.
