Pokrzywnica, Opole Voivodeship

Nettle joke, Polish Pokrzywnica, is a village and mayor's office in Poland. It belongs to the municipality Reinsch village in powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski, Opole Voivodeship in Upper Silesia.

History

Nettle joke was first mentioned in a document from 1285. Since 1740 the village was a St. Sebastian 's Chapel, which was replaced on 26 May 1911 by the newly built St. Sebastian Church. 1847 was a Catholic school, but had only one class. Previously the children had attended school in Juliusburg. 1903, the school was expanded and in 1936 built a new, larger school. The opening of the railway line Kędzierzyn - German Rasselwitz on 1 December 1876 ( length 33.6 km, with further connection towards Neisse ) nettle joke received a railroad connection. In the fall of 1945, 19 families from the eastern part of Poland (about 150 people) were resettled. Most of them came from Hanaczów. In January 1946, nettle joke was part of the rural community Wiegschütz. Since 1948, the football club LZS Pokrzywnica exists. The first games were held on the premises of the training area until the new football field was completed at the edge of the forest on the road to Twardawa.
