Police Academy is the name of a television series from 1997, which was based on the film of the same and of the resulting film series. However, it was constructed only in large temporal distance to all previous productions. Directed by Robert Radler.

The series consists essentially of a new generation of characters, but the act in stories with the well-known comedy elements. Only Michael Winslow aka Larvell Jones is still left and now appears as a coach.

Action

The mayor relaxes the conditions for approval of the local police academy because the police need offspring.

It apply promptly incompetent slobs that have to be accepted. Core of the group is the smart Richard Casey, who is his friends at the Academy is not a good role model. Among the cadets are the bumpkin Annie, who is afraid of new relationships because their ex-boyfriends always overtook terrible accidents, overweight and slightly dim-witted Luke Kackley, as well as the tough Alicia, who as a member of a street gang shows their past entirely. Also, the instructors and officers are not a measure of competence and intelligence: Sergeant Rusty Ledbetter is not only with Casey at loggerheads, but also has constant problems with his toupee. Background

  • Trying to implement the films as a television series, failed, as did the last film. It was only produced for one season with 25 episodes.
  • Numerous actors from the original films gave guest performances. Particularly noteworthy is David Graf, who last represented here the Eugene Tackleberry, before he died of a heart attack in 2001. Art Metrano, who plays in the original films Mauser, returns as Commandant Miser. Bubba Smith, the last time the role of Moses Hightower pictured here before he died in August 2011.
  • The series ran on German television three times within a year. In 1999 she was first in the spring at DF1 Crime & Co., the specialty channel for crime at the former digital television DF1. In summer, they then went on ProSieben, in the fall again at premiere comedy. In Austria it was broadcast by ORF 1 twice, once in 1999 and 2000.
