Polyporaceae

Laetiporus ( Laetiporus sulphureus )

The Stielporlingsverwandte ( Polyporaceae ) family is one of the stand mushrooms.

The flesh of the fruit body is soft to tough. The vast majority of members of this family have pores on the Hutunterseite, but there are also genera with blades ( ball rings, Sägeblättlinge ) or a fungus having lammellenählichen structures (leaves random compacts). The spore powder of Stielporlingsverwandten has a white color, Zystiden not occur. Some species are stalked, in other species lacking the stalk or sitting sideways on. Many species grow console shaped.

Most species are Saprobionten on dead wood, some species may even live trees and other woody plants parasitize.

Because of the texture of their meat most Porlinge not come as edible mushrooms in question. Exception are the Schwefelporling ( Laetiporus sulphureus ) and the Scaly Polypore ( Polyporus squamosus ) that are edible in young state. Traditional Chinese medicine uses several types as medicinal mushrooms, such as the Butterfly Tramete ( Trametes versicolor), the calibration Hare ( Polyporus umbellatus ), or tinder fungus ( Fomes fomentarius ) because they contain a type of antibiotic. Even the man from Hauslabjoch led such fungi as a remedy with it.
